Entering the beginning of the semester, the Faculty of Computer Science UMI held a guest lecturing on 25 and 26 September 2019, with the theme Cyber Digital Crime & Forensics as well as Science, Technology & Entrepreneurship. The activities carried out in the Hall of the Faculty of Computer Science were attended by all 2019 new students, with the support of several institutions such as the UII Digital Forensic Study Center, BNN, and the Indonesian National Police. By inviting presenters who are experts in their fields, it is expected that this activity can add insight and knowledge to participants about current trends in technological development, so that the academics of FIK UMI can prepare the expertise needed in implementing the technology.
On the first day the theme of Cyber Crime & Digital Forensics was delivered by Prof.Yudi Prayudi, as a Digital Forensic expert, he explained the importance of forensic science as cyber crime is rife. Computer security is different with digital forensics, so we need basic knowledge about computer security that can support to learn digital forensic technology. “The need for digital forensic experts is increasing, so this is a job opportunity for computer science graduates” said the Head of the Yogyakarta UII Digital Study Center. He not only motivated the participants to improve their skills, but also have to be wiser in uploading data or sharing information on social media.
On the second day, with theme of Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship was delivered by Mr. Ismail Fahmi, Ph.D as a social media expert, he was the director of PT. Kernels Media Indonesia-Drone Emprit. He delivered “Reading Indonesia: K-Poppers and Buzzer Pro Government, Who Do They Defend, by utilizing Big Data technology”. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Ismail Fahmi motivates students to learn science in order to create technology that is beneficial to society. Big Data technology is closely related to Data Science. The amount of unstructured data that is spread on the internet, becomes an opportunity to analyze patterns that can be used as a basis for making decisions. One example presented is the tweet pattern on Twitter media, this pattern can show clusters or groups of netizens who enliven a hashtag. It is expected that students can utilize Big Data technology to analyze problems in the environment so that they can provide tangible solutions for the community.
